Upload the order before you buy, or upload an open position after you are in. The tool reads the trade, lets you confirm it, then calculates the risk before emotion gets involved.

Which order type are you using?

This is your limit price. We do not choose it for you because a limit can protect your price but can also keep the order from filling.
Tell the calculator how many dollars you are willing to lose, and it will estimate the maximum position size that fits your risk.

We will use the Stop Loss % you already selected in the Stop Loss tab. You do not need to enter the percentage twice.

Which trailing order are you using?
$
Some brokers let the limit follow a live quote instead of using one fixed number. Follow your broker's screen. A tighter limit gives more price control but increases the chance the order does not fill.

What do these 4 order types actually do?
The calculator above tells you what to enter. This is the simple reason you might choose one order type over another.
STOP
When your stop price is hit, your broker tries to get you out. The exact sale price can be a little higher or lower.
STOP LIMIT
Your stop turns the order on, but you also tell the broker the lowest price you will accept. More price control, but it might not sell.
TRAIL STOP
Your stop follows the trade upward. If the trade falls by your chosen trail, your broker tries to get you out.
TRAIL STOP LIMIT
The stop follows the trade upward, but when triggered the broker will only sell at your limit price or better. It may not fill.
Easy memory trick: Stop and Trail Stop focus more on getting you out. Stop Limit and Trail Stop Limit give you more price control, but the trade may not sell.
Educational calculator only. It does not place orders or guarantee execution. Options and stocks can move quickly, stop orders can fill away from the displayed stop price, and fees, slippage, gaps, liquidity and broker order rules can change actual results. Always verify the trade and order details with your broker before submitting an order.
